2011 was the year Firdaus began Calisthenics training and committed to working out regularly at a fitness corner near his house. His coaching journey took off during his time in the Navy where he was appointed as a physical training instructor. Driven by his love to share his knowledge on Calisthenics and fitness with others, Firdaus founded Bar-hijrah, an open community to bring like-minded people to train together. Eventually he founded Singapore Calisthenics Academy in 2014 so that his passion can be reached to more people.
After many years of Calisthenics training, Firdaus decided to narrow his focus on perfecting the art of hand balancing. He did so because the beauty of the movement and the technical intricacies make the pursuit of a better handstand a more fulfilling and rewarding one. In his training journey, Firdaus has been through the teachings of world-renowned hand balancers such as Miguel Sant’ana, Nicolas Montes De Oca, and Dan Liddiard. The vastness of his exposure has helped him to craft the right training for any committed individual. As Firdaus believes that everything in life should be balanced, he always strives for the right mix in his classes, a fixed set of drills for measurable progress with enough variety to keep things interesting and fun.
